WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe in the one true God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — one God in three persons, eternally sharing one life and love.
We believe God created humanity in His image to know Him, worship Him, reflect His character, and share in His life. Sin turned humanity inward toward self-rule, alienating us from God, one another, and creation. Leaving all humanity sick with the disease of sin.
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully human. He became flesh for us and for our salvation, lived faithfully, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father, and reigns as Lord.
We believe the Holy Spirit gives life, unites us to Christ, forms us into His likeness, gathers the Church, equips us for witness, and empowers us to live as God’s people. We believe in the continuation of the manifestation of the Spirit in gifts through the Church as a witness to His Kingdom and to minister to the needs of His people.
We believe the Church is the people of God, a new kind of humanity drawn from every tribe and nation, joined to Christ and to one another, called to worship, holiness, love, hospitality, service, and mission.
We believe God forms His people through His ordinary gifts of grace: Scripture, prayer, baptism, the Lord’s Table, gathered worship, fellowship, confession, forgiveness, service, and life together.
We believe baptism joins us publicly to Christ and His people, and we believe the Lord’s Table is a gift of Christ in which the Church remembers, receives, proclaims, and participates in His life together.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and are the authoritative witness that leads us to Christ and teaches us how to live as His people.
We believe Jesus will come again, the dead will be raised, evil will finally be defeated, and God will renew creation. Our hope is not escape from the world, but resurrection and the restoration of all things in Christ.
We believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
begotten from his Father before all ages,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one substance with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and was made human.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
And we believe in one holy catholic* and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
“Catholic” here means universal — the one Church of Jesus Christ throughout all times and places.
